Welcome Residents
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia welcomes all new and returning residents for the 2009 / 2010 academic year. By now, you should have received your 2009 / 2010 educational license. Please keep this in a safe place as you will probably be asked to present it periodically during the academic year.
The College sends regular information and updates to physicians. Please ensure that the College has your most current contact information by using the Notification of Change Form.
The College website offers a variety of publications, policies and guidelines for your information. However, please feel free to contact the College at any time for assistance.
Certificates of Standing / Verification of Licensure
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia provides Certificates of Standing/Verification of Licensure. If you require a Certificate of Standing / Verification of Licensure, you will need to complete a Consent for Certificate of Standing form.
Consent forms are available on the College website or by contacting the College. The completed consent form can be sent to the College by regular mail, by fax to (902)422-5035, or by email to registration@cpsns.ns.ca. If sent by fax or e-mail, payment must be made by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
Certificates / Verifications are sent directly to the licensing authority requesting the document within one week after the College receives the completed form.
If you are leaving the Dalhousie program and applying for a license outside Nova Scotia (either for further post-graduate training with another medical school or to obtain a full license) there is a $60 fee for Certificates / Verifications. If you require a Certificate / Verification for elective purposes, be sure to indicate this fact on your consent form so that you will not be charged the fee.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Registration Department at the contact below.
