Methadone Maintenance Treatment Mentorship

One of the components of obtaining a Health Canada exemption to prescribe methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) is to complete one day (or two half days) of clinical mentorship with an experienced MMT prescriber. Mentorship is designed to help physicians understand and apply MMT guidelines in a supervised clinical setting.

The College requires that the clinical mentorship be completed before applying for a Health Canada exemption to prescribe methadone maintenance therapy.

Upon completion, the mentor will submit a completed and signed mentorship form to the College.

To arrange clinical mentorship with an experienced MMT prescriber, please contact the College's Methadone Maintenance Support Program at (902) 421-2216.
