College releases/endorses four new guidelines

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has issued or endorsed the following four guidelines since March 2010.

Guidelines for Physicians Regarding Referral and Consultation

Canadian Guideline for Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain (A project of the National Opioid Use Guideline Group [NOUGG]; endorsed by the College in May, 2010).

Physician Services Page debuts

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia is pleased to offer the following new online services for the convenience of its members:

  • Change address and contact information used by the College
  • Generate a confirmation of licensure document
  • View and generate receipts
  • Renew a medical license (from Nov. to Jan. each year – Mailed renewal notification will still occur and non-online completion of renewal will still be available).
  • Several additional services will be added in the coming year (including incorporation renewal, subject to legislative changes).


  • These services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the new Physician Services Page.

    Members who have supplied valid e-mail addresses to the College will have received their username and password by e-mail on Friday, April 23. This information is also available by calling (902) 422-5823 (toll-free 1-877-282-7767), or by e-mail at: registration@cpsns.ns.ca.
