College suspends license of
Dr. Stani Osif of Sydney Mines

Halifax, June 4, 2007 -- The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54 (1)(c) of the Medical Act of Nova Scotia, Dr. Stani Osif, a general practitioner in Sydney Mines is hereby suspended from the practice of medicine. The suspension will continue until further notice.

Under the Act, an Investigation Committee of the College may, without a hearing, immediately suspend the license of a physician when it receives information suggesting that the physician may be incompetent, guilty of professional misconduct or conduct unbecoming, and the Investigation Committee concludes that it is in the public interest to suspend the license of the physician.

No further information about this case is currently available for release.  This case has been referred to a Hearing Committee, whose decision will be released to the public and the media.  No time has been set for the Hearing.
